Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)
A thyroid cancer type. Personal/family history contraindicates GLP-1 use.
MTC is a thyroid cancer arising from C-cells. Because GLP-1s caused C-cell tumors in rodent studies, a personal or family history of MTC, or MEN 2 syndrome, is a contraindication to the entire GLP-1 class.
